What You Need to Know

What Plan N Covers

Plan N generally covers Part A coinsurance and additional hospital days, Part B coinsurance except permitted copays, the first three pints of blood, Part A hospice cost sharing, skilled nursing facility coinsurance, the Part A deductible, and 80% of eligible foreign-travel emergencies up to plan limits.

Office Visit Copays

Plan N may require a copayment of up to $20 for certain office visits. Not every encounter triggers the maximum copay, and billing depends on Medicare’s claim classification.

Emergency Room Copays

Plan N may require a copayment of up to $50 for certain emergency-room visits that do not result in inpatient admission.

Part B Excess Charges

Plan N does not cover Part B excess charges. Ask providers whether they accept Medicare assignment. Many providers do, and some states restrict excess charges.

What You Still Pay

You pay the Plan N premium, Part B deductible, applicable office or emergency copays, excess charges, Part B premium, prescription costs, and non-Medicare-covered services.

Plan N vs. Plan G

Plan N may have a lower premium than Plan G but adds potential copays and excess-charge exposure. The best value depends on premium difference, care use, and provider billing practices.

Part D Is Separate

Plan N does not include outpatient prescription coverage. A separate Part D plan is normally needed.
